International Finance and Accounting

This programme is specially designed to enable you to establish a professional career in the financial sector. During your studies you will learn to develop a critical understanding of the principles, theories, concepts, contexts, approaches and challenges central to international finance, accounting and economics in the global economy. As well as developing skills in the use of tools, techniques, and research methods, you will become familiar with ethical and professional standards in finance and accounting, in an international setting, and will be supported to acquire ethical awareness and sound judgment in interpreting complex features of institutions in the global economic system (e.g. accounting information reported by international companies). Key themes of the course will be: practice in professionalism: development of professionalism in international finance and accounting and best practice through engagement in real life scenarios; investment management: to develop the skills of professional asset management of securities and other assets to meet specified investment goals for the benefit of clients; financial information reporting and analysis: the theme includes accounting for key elements of the primary financial statements based on the relevant IASs and IFRSs. It also entails analyses of the elements accounted for, to facilitate in-depth interpretations of accounting information reported by international companies.

Entry requirements

UK students should have a good Honours degree in any subject area. Non-UK students should have GPA equivalent credentials (e.g. GPA 3.6). Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent (CEFR: C1).
