Research in our School of Social & Health Sciences (SHS) covers a range of areas including: applied psychology related to police and security issues; language processing and language learning; evolutionary psychology and biological basis of behaviour; vision science and its applications; sociology of sport; exercise and health; sports performance; outdoor activity and coaching; mental health nurses role in recovery in mental health; psychological support for people with long term health conditions, particularly sight loss and diabetes; measurement of recovery in mental health; self- management in recovery in mental health; media, culture and representation; social theory, politics, power and the state; crime and deviance; social divisions and identity.
