International Commercial Law and the Environment
During this course students get to grips with balancing the competing demands of environmental protection and business interest whilst studying some of the emerging law and policy in this area. Students complete an advanced and in-depth study of subjects including competition law to control monopoly and aggressive business practices and the relevant legal incentives and sanctions in environmental regulation. An important part of the course is the writing of a detailed dissertation within the specialism of the student's choice. This is an opportunity to select a project topic which has a direct bearing on the student's professional life. The course is particularly attractive to those seeking a career in government departments, transnational corporations, corporate and environmental lobby groups, international law firms and a range of non-governmental organisations. As a distance-learning course, it suits those already actively pursuing their careers or managing other commitments.
