Cardiac Care

This course aims to expand students' knowledge of research and evidence-based care as well as develop their specialist practitioner role, with the focus on prevention, behaviour changes, education and appropriate management. It is equally suitable whether a students' current role is within a coronary care unit, medical or surgical cardiac ward, investigational units or critical care areas.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2.2 classification in a nursing degree and 2 years clinical experience in a cardiac care environment. Applicants who do not meet this criteria but have prior relevant experience are encouraged to apply. If English is not the 1st language students are expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (academic level) or equivalent English language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Course modules

Core modules include: Cardiac care; cardiac rehabilitation.

Assessment methods

For the cardiac care module assessment is based on theoretical and practical perspectives, through a 4,000-word assignment and an oral assessment (Viva); the cardiac rehabilitation module is assessed solely through an assignment of 3,000 words.
