Engaging with colleagues and experts from various professional disciplines, students work closely with those who recognise the importance of ensuring quality of life and fulfilment of families' aspirations for children and young people with SEN.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree from a UK university or equivalent; evidence of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance; a command of written English equivalent to InternationaI English Language Testing System (IELTS) 6.5. Students also have 2 or more of the following: a recognised professional qualification in teaching, education support, social work, nursing, occupational therapy, creative therapy or psychology; evidence of sustained experience working in a professional or voluntary capacity with children and young adults with SEN-D and their families; personal experience (for example through a family member) of the SEN-D context.

Course modules

Core modules: The interprofessional context for SEN; intervention for SEN; exploring boundaries and practices for SEN (includes a summer school); investigating education through research; postgraduate major project (double module).

Assessment methods

Students engage in collaborative assessments such as group presentations, alongside other methods like individual critical reflections and an extended evaluation of issues applied to their own unique context.
