International Social Welfare and Social Policy

The emphasis of this course is on comparative and global analysis; exploring social welfare and planning responses to issues such as street children; criminal justice and social welfare in areas of political conflict. Students have the chance to build and expand on skills relating to policy making, social sciences, leadership and strategies of change.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2.2 Bachelors degree or equivalent. The University also looks for applicants who are working, or looking to find work, in related areas such as social welfare and community development; The University also accepts non-graduates who can demonstrate their experiential knowledge. If English is not the 1st language students are expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (academic level) or equivalent English language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Course modules

Core modules: Globalisation, social welfare and social policy; comparative social policy and social welfare; research studies; major project. Optional modules: Global leadership; collaborative practice for integrated care; essential issues in public health policy.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on essays, reports, case studies, debates and a dissertation; there are no exams in this course.
