Students on this course learn the theory behind finance and investment, which provides the backbone for all decisions and corporate policy students may come across in their career. While they�re studying, students will gain the technical and analytical skills needed to understand financial literature, and the ability to undertake independent research in the fields of finance and investment. Throughout their studies students will be exposed to industry-standard financial modelling software, and have opportunities to attend guest lectures from a variety of expert professional and academic speakers.

Entry requirements

A 1st degree, with Honours, at a minimum final classification of Lower 2nd (2.2) or equivalent. GCSE grade C or above in mathematics. If English is not the 1st language students should be able to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (academic level) or equivalent English language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University. Alternatively, entrants with significant experience within the financial sector industry will be considered. Candidates who do not possess any of these entry criteria, but can demonstrate appropriate relevant experience in a post of management or financial responsibility may be admitted if, in the opinion of the admissions tutor, they are capable of profiting from and contributing to the course. Requests for admission with AP(E)L will be managed via standard university procedures.

Course modules

Core modules may include: financial management; global financial markets; financial modelling and business forecasting; mergers and acquisitions; research methods for business and management; postgraduate major project. Optional modules may include: Non-commercial governance; international (comparative) governance.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on simulation-enhanced assignment; portfolio-based assessment; case-based examinations; group presentations; individual assignments; report preparation.
