International Hospitality and Tourism Management
This course has a focus on management skills which prepares students for roles in hotels, tourism and hospitality management. As well as hospitality and tourism, the course draws on knowledge from the fields of general business studies and marketing, placing great emphasis on the practical application of concepts so that students can be sure they�re developing real skills as well as theoretical understanding.
2.2 Bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification; or significant professional experience. Examples of relevant experience include holding a management role or a role of professional responsibility in a tourism or hospitality environment. If English is not the 1st language students are expected to demonstrate a certified level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5, or equivalent. Students with other awards, including those from non-UK universities are encouraged to apply.
Core modules may include: hospitality management; services marketing for hospitality, tourism, and events; contemporary issues in tourism and hospitality; human resource issues in the hospitality and tourism industry; research methods for business and management; postgraduate major project. Optional modules may include: Strategic management; the entrepreneurial proposition; finance for decision making; operations management.
Assessment is based on feedback in class discussion, evidence of research, project work based on case studies and work experience, case study evaluations, oral presentations and a dissertation.
