Tourism Management

On this course students develop a deep understanding of how the industry operates, together with a comprehensive set of management and leadership skills. There are core modules dedicated to tourism policy, management, marketing and sustainability, as well as optional modules focusing on the commercial and operational management aspects. We also provide research training that will prepare students for writing their dissertation and give them transferable skills which can be used in further study and throughout their career.

Entry requirements

Minimum of a 2.2 in a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject. If applicants can demonstrate relevant experience in a managerial post or professional responsibility in tourism or a related field they may also be admitted. If the 1st language is not English applicants are expected to demonstrate a certified level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5, or equivalent. If applicants have other awards, including those from non-UK universities, we may be able to accept these.

Course modules

Core modules include: Contemporary issues in tourism and hospitality; tourism management; sustainable tourism management; research methods for business and management; services marketing for hospitality, tourism and events; postgraduate major project. Optional modules include: Strategic management; the entrepreneurial proposition; finance for decision making; operations management.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on project work based on case studies and work experience; research reports; performance in group work; essays; presentations; dissertation.
