Human Resource Management

This course by block delivery (CIPD-supported distance learning) is aimed at individuals who wish to pursue a career in the management of human resources and provides the opportunity for participants to take a critical approach and examine, challenge and extend their understanding of human resource management (HRM) processes and their influence on organisational and individual effectiveness; throughout the pathway emphasis is placed on the development of reflective practitioners and 'thinking performers' by encouraging students to relate their learning experiences in previous and current working roles by both discussion within the learning groups, discussion topics via the VLE and also by assessments designed in order that issues within their workplaces can be explored using critical theory application.

Entry requirements

A UK degree at a minimum of Lower 2nd class Honours or equivalent overseas qualification; candidates who do not possess these entry criteria, but can demonstrate appropriate relevant experience in a post of management or professional responsibility, may be admitted if, in the opinion of the Admissions Tutor, they are capable of profiting from and contributing to the programme; applications are welcome from International and EU Candidates. If English is not the 1st language students should be able to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Course modules

Core modules: human resource management in context; leading, managing and developing people; developing skills for business leadership; resourcing and talent management; investigating a business issue from a human resources perspective; designing, delivering and evaluating learning and development provision; managing employee relations; managing reward (subject to validation).

Assessment methods

Assessment is through assignment, portfolio and examination.
