Students develop a critical understanding of health informatics systems and the organisational and technological challenges that impact on development, implementation and management of these systems. This course may be of particular interest for health professionals wanting to improve their understanding of information technology to improve healthcare provision, or technologists with relevant technical qualifications wanting a change of career.
A UK Honours degree; an academic or professional qualification approved by the Senate (or a committee acting on its behalf) as equivalent in breadth and depth to a UK Honours degree; the course admits students with diverse academic backgrounds. These include healthcare, IT, business studies and computer science candidates with bachelor's degree, but students are also welcome with other degrees where they are wishing to transfer their focus towards Health Informatics. If English is not the 1st language students are expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (academic level) or equivalent English language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
Core modules: organisational aspects of health informatics; technological aspects of health informatics; major project healthcare management and health informatics; research studies. Optional modules: Strategy health care management; organisational transformation in health and social care; global leadership care; finance, accounting and marketing in health.
Assessment methods include written assignment, portfolio, research proposal, audit, service development plans, critical reviews of literature, case studies, systematic reviews and data analysis.
