Clinical Medicine

Developed by practicing consultants and public-health academics, this course builds on the student's current abilities as a doctor and enhances their innovation, leadership, and research skills. It strengthens their ability to bring about positive change, solve problems effectively, and ensure patient safety. Learning takes place through taught lectures/seminars and self-directed study, with structured sessions online and in our Virtual Learning Environment. Students have tutor support via telephone or face-to-face tutorials and by email, as well as peer support through web-based networks.

Entry requirements

A recognised primary medical degree that has been approved by the General Medical Council which has been awarded by an institution listed on the Avicenna Directory for Medicine. To be included on the Avicenna directory, an institution must have a physical address in the country awarding the qualification. If English is not the 1st language, applicants are expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 7.0 ( Academic level) including written English academic test, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.

Course modules

Core modules: Effective clinical practice; global health: perspectives and practice; clinical leadership and service development; research studies; major project.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include a 6,000-word in-depth case study related to the student's subject specialty; an annotated PowerPoint; a research proposal; an audit; a critical review of the literature; a research report; and data analysis.
