This course builds on the subject's core principles with a specific flavour to cater for the issues involved in implementing and maintaining an information system and also in their design and development. The programme covers relevant aspects of software development, design and the technical infrastructures of an information system. Students are expected to develop software applications to support databases, multimedia tools, browsers, servers, and to set up the infrastructure to support them.
Applicants require an Honours degree 2.2 or above in a computing/information technology subject; no work experience is required; if this qualification requirement is not met, an applicant may be accepted with an Honours degree 2.2 or above in any other subject if it is combined with relevant professional work experience. If English is not the 1st language students should have be able to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
Core modules: developing web applications; e-business engineering; information technology infrastructures; secure systems; research methods; postgraduate major project.
Written assignments, software projects, presentations, and a final dissertation module worth a third of the total course assessment.
