Electronic and Electrical Engineering
This course focuses on power electronics, renewable systems, signal processing, holistic modelling of electronic systems and image processing. The main aims of the course are to: meet a local, national and international demand for skilled electronic and electrical engineers; provide an opportunity for students to gain in-depth relevant specialist knowledge in electronics systems design; synthesise formal solutions through the application of specialist knowledge to design and create innovative electronic and electrical circuits; perform and develop objective and critical analysis skills necessary to synthesis effective solutions when presented with a set of specifications; equip students with the appropriate depth in understanding of electronic engineering development tools and techniques.
Minimum Lower 2nd Class Honours degree in electronics or electrical engineering; 1st degree (Honours) in appropriate subject or foundation degree with appropriate industrial experience in the electronics industry. If English is not the 1st language students are expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
Core modules: image processing (15 credits); DSP applications and ARM Technology (30 credits); sustainable technologies (15 credits); research methods and preparation (15 credits); VHDL design and programming with FPGA applications (30 credits); power conversion systems (15 credits).
Assessment techniques include examinations and assignments based on case-studies and scenarios.
