This course involves the study of individuals and groups within organisational and social contexts, and the study of internal processes and practices as they affect those individuals and groups. It is relevant to students looking to develop careers either as general managers or organisational consultants, and provides an excellent grounding for an academic or research-based career. In addition we offer the opportunity to complete Level A and B Psychometric Testing Training as defined by the British Psychological Society.
A good UK Honours degree (minimum lower 2nd Class) or equivalent overseas degree recognised by Aston University; 2 professional references (at least 1 must be from an academic referee); a completed application form (if sufficient evidence of analytical and quantitative skills is not recieved within the application a minimum GMAT score of 550 may be requested to support the application); for international students: an official academic transcript of grades (in English); international students who have not completed their full degree in a native English speaking country also need to satisfy the English language requirements with 1 of the following: IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum score of 6.5 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in listening and reading; TOEFL (internet based test) score of 100 overall, with a minimum score of 23 in writing and speaking and 22 in listening and reading; Pearson Academic score of 61 overall with a minimum of 61 in all 4 sections.
Core modules: organisational behaviour; organisational behaviour: theory and practice; learning and talent development; assessment, performance and reward; organisational behaviour: theory and practice; strategy, change and leadership; research methods in human resource; management and business and organisational behaviour.
Optional modules (choose 2): employee relations in context; accounting for non-financial managers; employee relations and counselling; strategic and international human resource management; marketing management; operations management; strategic management; management of innovation; economic environment of business.
The 12 taught modules are assessed through a mixture of examinations and coursework. The taught element of the programme is complemented by a substantial piece of research leading to the completion of a dissertation.
