This programme provides a comprehensive focus on key areas of business education therefore complements a 1st degree for students of engineering, the sciences and humanities.

Entry requirements

A good UK Honours degree (minimum lower 2nd class) or equivalent overseas degree recognised by Aston University; 2 professional references (at least 1 must be from an academic referee); a completed application form (if sufficient evidence of analytical and quantitative skills is not recieved within the application a minimum GMAT score of 550 may be requested to support the application); for international students: an official academic transcript of grades (in English); international students who have not completed their full degree in a native English speaking country also need to satisfy the English language requirements with 1 of the following: IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum score of 6.5 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in listening and reading; TOEFL (Internet based test) score of 100 overall, with a minimum score of 23 in writing and speaking and 22 in listening and reading; Pearson Academic score of 61 overall with a minimum of 61 in all 4 sections.

Course modules

Core modules: accounting for non-financial managers; applied research methods; marketing management; strategic management; people and world organisations ; operations management. Optional Modules (select 2 modules from 1 of the following groups): Group A: economic environment of business; entrepreneurial strategies; international business strategy; management of innovation. Group B: international finance; business finance. Group C: marketing channels and strategic sales force management; digital marketing; international marketing management. Group D: international operations; managing multi-organisational enterprises and enterprise systems; quality management; strategic global outsourcing and offshoring. Group E: employee relations in context; learning and talent development. Group F: global ethics human rights responsibilities in business; strategic business sustainability; public policy for social responsibility and sustainable development. Group G: corporate governance regulation and compliance; intellectual property strategy and management; law of securities, banking and financial regulation.

Assessment methods

A mixture of examinations and coursework plus a piece of research.
