Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine
Students must hold at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in a biological, biomedical or biochemical subject, or in a related field, from a recognised university or have a relevant overseas qualification recognised by Aston University; international students whose 1st language is not English must demonstrate a satisfactory command of English language for example; IELTS: 6.5 overall, 6.0 in each area.
Core modules: advanced laboratory skills with data analysis and interpretation; understanding professional practice and enhancing employability; mammalian cell biology and culture; stem cells and tissue engineering technology; tissue formation, function and repair; models of regeneration.
Optional modules: ageing and regenerative medicine; transplantation biology; bioethics and regulation; finance and business management; human disease; pharmacology; drug discovery; toxicology.
Assessment methods employed include examinations and continuous assessment through coursework; these will differ for individual modules.
