Mechanical Engineering (Modelling)
A 1st or 2nd Class UK Honours Degree in engineering, physical science, mathematics or a related subject or overseas equivalent (we would expect to see significant mathematics content in the student's academic profile); a score of 55 per cent or above from the Aston University pre-Master's programme is required for applicants not meeting the lower 2nd class or English language requirement; international students whose native language is not English also need to demonstrate English language ability; a TOEFL score of at least 100 (internet-based) with a minimum score of 23 in speaking, 22 in reading and 21 in writing and listening; an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in each band; Pearson Academic score of 61 overall with a minimum score of 59 in each area.
Core modules: computational fluid dynamics and applications; practical numerical methods; computer aided design principles and materials selection; advanced computer aided design; major project; research project; renewable energy; sustainable design.
Optional modules: solid mechanics and finite element analysis; strategic finance; project management; new product development; innovation business development; finite element analysis.
Modules are assessed with a combination of coursework and examinations and a dissertation is required for the major project.
