This programme is open to suitably qualified international and UK graduates; rospective students must possess a good Honours Degree (minimum lower 2nd Class) in pharmacy, pharmaceutical science, pharmacology, physiology, physical science, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering, genetics, materials science, medicine, or a related field, from a recognised university or an overseas degree recognised by Aston University; international students whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language ability as follows: IELTS: 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each section; TOEFL IBT 100 overall, (21 in listening and writing, 22 in reading and 23 in speaking); Pearson Academic 61 overall, 59 in each area.
Modules are: drug discovery; chemotherapy and selective toxicity; drug dosage form and design; principles of product analysis and validation; drug delivery and targeting; research methods 1: professional development; research methods 2: communication skills; research project.
The course is assessed by a mixture of coursework, examinations, practical work, oral and written presentations; the research project module is assessed on the basis of a submitted project report and an oral defence of a poster.
