The course is designed for those wishing to pursue a career as a professional psychologist and who do not possess a degree which confers eligibility for Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society; GBR is the 1st step in becoming a Chartered Psychologist and a necessary requirement for many postgraduate programmes.
This programme is open to suitably qualified UK and international graduates. Students must have a good Honours degree (minimum lower 2nd class) in any subject plus the equivalent of at least 60 credits of psychology at degree level. Students who do not have prior study in psychology are required to undertake an appropriate entry programme in psychology. International students whose native language is not English will need to demonstrate English language ability as follows: IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each section TOEFL IBT 100 overall, (21 in listening and writing, 22 in reading and 23 in speaking) Pearson Academic 61 overall, 59 in each area.
Compulsory modules: thinking and reasoning; child development; brain and behaviour; social psychology; psychological research methods; advanced statistics; project; personality and intelligence; language and communication.
Teaching is via lectures, group work, practical�s and seminars. Performance is evaluated by coursework and examination.
