This programme is open to suitably qualified UK and international graduates; students must hold at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical science, pharmacology, physiology, physical science, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering, genetics, materials science, medicine or a related field; from a recognised university or an overseas degree recognised by Aston University; international students whose native language is not English will need to demonstrate English language ability as follows: IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each section; TOEFL IBT 100 overall (21 in listening and writing, 22 in reading and 23 in speaking); Pearson Academic 61 overall, 59 in each area.
Modules: drug discovery; chemotherapy and selective toxicity; drug dosage form and design; principles of product analysis and validation; pharmacology; research methods 1: professional development; research methods 2: communication skills; research project.
The course is assessed by a mixture of coursework, examinations, practical work, oral and written presentations; the research project module is assessed on the basis of a submitted project report and an oral defence of a poster.
