This innovative programme - which offers specialist coaching in translation from Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, French, Spanish or German - prepares you both for a professional career in the global language industry and for ongoing research. You will learn about the business of translation from professionals working in the industry and gain practical, hands-on, experience through our placement module.

Entry requirements

MA: 2:1 degree in Translation Studies or in French and/or German and/or Spanish and/or Portuguese and/or Arabic and/or Chinese or a related subject (eg. Linguistics, English, Literature). In this, case we'd, however, need to indicate the minimum level of competence in French and/or German and/or Spanish as equivalent to CEFR C1 (French Language equivalent qualification required: DALF C1). Applicants with alternative qualifications may wish to enquire with the relevant admissions teams prior to application whether or not their qualifications are deemed acceptable. For less commonly encountered qualifications this will be judged on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the academic admissions tutor.
