This course designed to enable students to engage in a substantial period of study to help them review, change, develop and strengthen their position as an artist; to this end, the course encourages artistic responsibility, self-direction, and competence; the ethos of the programme is to enable students to acquire a confident individual expertise and the advanced skills to develop their creative potential beyond the course through developing their knowledge and understanding of the contexts of critical and professional sustainable practice.
An Honours degree from an approved university or a non-graduate qualification which is of satisfactory standard; prospective students are also asked to attend an interview with portfolio of previous work and make a proposal for study, including contextual reference (around 500 words) that outline the applicant's intentions.
Modules include: research practice 1 (orientation and context); research practice 2 (context and practice); advanced studio practice 1 (application and collaboration); advanced studio practice 2 (towards resolution); exhibition practice (resolution and synthesis).
