Applied Sport Science and Outdoor Activities

This course aims to develop students theoretical understanding of issues at the forefront of research in sport science and outdoor activities; it has been designed to be flexible and relevant to the student's individual needs and interests, with a strong emphasis on developing students' ability to question current thinking and propose alternative evidence based actions/hypotheses.

Entry requirements

A 2.2 Honours degree. EU and Overseas students, whose 1st language is not English, are required to take the standardised English Language test (IELTS) at their British Council before the June of their admission to the course. IELTS: 6.0 (with no element below 5.5) is required.

Course modules

Modules include: supervised experience; MA research skills; higher skills; plus 2 from: sport psychology; effective coaching; performance physiology; rehabilitation of the injured athlete.

Assessment methods

These include a dissertation.

All applicants to the Masters programmes are eligible to apply for bursaries and assistantships from the school, plus funding may also be available from the university.
