Molecular Biology with Biotechnology

The course has a strong practical emphasis and provides the advanced theoretical and practical background necessary for employment in the biotechnology industry, as well as equipping students with the knowledge required to pursue advanced studies in this area.

Entry requirements

A 2.2 Honours degree in an appropriate biological science subject. Applications from mature students, without formal qualifications, but with relevant industrial, commercial, research or other experience will be considered. Applicants from overseas must, in addition, demonstrate competence in English to an acceptable level as outlined below: IELTS: a minimum score of 6.0 (with no element below 5.5).

Course modules

Modules include: marine biotechnology; molecular and medical laboratory techniques; techniques of molecular biology and biotechnology; molecular systems biology; plant biotechnology; environmental and industrial biotechnology; medical biotechnology and genomes and molecular genetics.

Assessment methods

Dissertation.
