Applied Sport Science

This course provides a focus on sport and performance; it has been designed to be flexible and relevant to the student's individual needs and interests, with a strong emphasis on the application of theory to professional practice; students may have the opportunity to prepare for the British association of sport and exercise sciences (BASES) supervisory experience training, which is normally a pre-requisite of the association's professional accreditation.

Course modules

Core modules: research skills; independent study (a one to one supervised programme of work leading to the development of the proposal for the research project); supervised experience; plus optional modules: performance physiology; sport psychology; exercise psychology; clinical exercise physiology; rehabilitation of the injured athlete: effective coaching.

Assessment methods

These include a research project.

All applicants to the Master's programmes are eligible to apply for bursaries and assistantships from the school, plus funding may also be available from the university.
