Birkbeck, University of London
This Master's degree in learning technologies provides the technical and pedagogical knowledge necessary for designing, developing and evaluating learning technologies from the perspective of state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and computer science techniques, learning theory and teaching practice. It is ideal for those with a background in computing (academic or practitioner) and also for those without a computing background. It develops a sound foundation for entry to a career in learning technologies or to a research degree in the subject. This Master's programme is targeted towards those with a computing background (academic or practitioner), who wish to move into a career in the development of learning technologies, or to increase their pedagogical and technical knowledge, if they are already working in the learning technologies sector. It will also appeal to those who wish to undertake a 1-year (or 2 years part-time) postgraduate degree with a view to continuing onto an MPhil/PhD based at the joint Birkbeck/UCL London Knowledge Lab. The programme is also suitable for those without a computing background, who wish to gain knowledge of both the computer science and the learning theory that together underpin the development of learning technologies.
