Marketing is the process by which companies determine what products or services may be of interest to customers, and the strategy to use in sales, communications and business development. In this programme, you will be introduced to the foundation of marketing, the theoretical underpinnings, the marketing mixes, and current issues and future trends of marketing. You will be confronted with a number of relevant issues, including branding, customer relationship management, e-marketing and green marketing. The programme of study is up to date, intellectually inspiring and relevant. Based in the School of Business, Economics and Informatics, the Department of Management is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the broad field of management. Our academic staff are active researchers as well as enthusiastic teachers, and regularly publish cutting-edge articles in the world's leading journals. We have particular research strengths in international business and strategy, the management of innovation and entrepreneurship, human resource management, corporate governance, sport management and marketing, as well as financial management and accounting. You take 5 compulsory modules, choose 3 option modules and write a 12,000-word dissertation. For your option modules, you can choose from Marketing Communications or Digital and Social Media Marketing or Relationship Marketing. You can also either choose from Corporate Responsibility or International Business Ethics. Please note that the module Principles of Marketing is for non-marketing students and is a pre-requisite for specialist marketing modules (e.g. International Marketing, Relationship Marketing, Strategic Sports Marketing, Marketing Communications, Public Relations, International Digital Marketing, Retail Marketing and Services Marketing). Core marketing modules are only available to MSc Marketing suite students: Brand Management, Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Management, Marketing Research, and Marketing Strategy and Planning.
