This programme has a flexible structure, which allows you to choose to concentrate on a general background in business and management or to focus on a specialist area. Whichever you choose, the programme provides a solid grounding in key aspects in management and draws upon the Department of Management's areas of research expertise. Based in the School of Business, Economics and Informatics, the Department of Management is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the broad field of management. Our academic staff are active researchers as well as enthusiastic teachers, and regularly publish cutting-edge articles in the world's leading journals. We have particular research strengths in international business and strategy, the management of innovation and entrepreneurship, human resource management, corporate governance, sport management and marketing, as well as financial management and accounting. We offer students of all ages and backgrounds a chance to study either part-time or full-time in our department and to gain an internationally recognised University of London qualification.

Entry requirements

Normally at least a second-Class Honours degree in any subject area from a UK university or a non-UK equivalent. A professional or other qualification obtained by written examinations approved by the College. Relevant experience, supporting statements and references may be taken into consideration, especially in the case of non-standard applications. If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests. 

Course modules

Students complete 8 modules (totalling 120 credits). You study 2 compulsory modules - Research Methods in Management 1 and Principles of Organization and Management - and choose an option 1 'inside the firm' module and an option 2 'outside the firm' module. You then choose 1 further module from either the option 1 or option 2 modules. You also choose a further 3 modules from within the Department of Management or Department of Organizational Psychology (or 45 credit points in another department, subject to approval). You also write a 12,000-word dissertation (worth 60 credits). Compulsory modules: Principles of Organization and Management; Research Methods in Management I . Group 1 option modules: Corporate Governance; Corporate Responsibility; International Business Ethics; International Business Strategy; Leadership and Performance Management; Perspectives on Organization; Principles of Marketing; Strategic Management (Postgraduate); Sustainable Business Practice . Group 2 option modules: Comparative Employment Relations; Development Policy; Economics for Managers; Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Globalization: forces, players and management; Innovation and the Knowledge Economy; Innovation Systems: Networks and Social Capital; International Business and Economic Development; International Business: Theories and Issues; The Business Environment: International and Comparative Perspectives; The Creative Industries: Theory and Contexts; Trust Social Norms and Development . MSc Management dissertation .

Assessment methods

A combination of examinations, coursework and a 12,000-word dissertation.
