This is a challenging and demanding programme that covers up-to-date topics in empirical finance. If you are interested in a career in investment, in financial institutions, or any in other financial management-related jobs, then this degree will equip you with the required knowledge and skills. The syllabus is designed to develop your quantitative analysis skills, enabling you to critically analyse financial investment proposals and empirical applications of corporate finance.
Usually a second-class honours degree in a subject related to finance or business studies. We also welcome students from any quantitative background. We also welcome professional or other qualifications obtained by written examinations approved by the College. Relevant experience, supporting statements and references may be taken into consideration, especially in the case of non-standard applications.If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
You complete 8 compulsory modules and write a 12,000-word dissertation on any area of financial management or investment. Full-time modules: Applied financial management; entrepreneurial finance; financial modelling; multinational financial management; portfolio and market analysis; principles of financial reporting; principles of investment management; valuation analysis and risk management.
Assessment is based on a combination of examinations, coursework and a 12,000-word dissertation.
