Primarily vocational and practical, the course caters for those with career interests in contemporary fashion design; the course helps students develop the skills and knowledge required to establish a professional career in fashion design, and provides a forum to discuss and analyse the professional, commercial and cultural dimensions of fashion design in contemporary society.
Applicants require a good degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications or experience.
Portfolio 1; lecture and seminar programme; research strategy; portfolio 2, portfolio 3 or dissertation.
The programme includes a mixture of practical projects and written works; students develop a portfolio of work that showcases their abilities and ideas and is executed and managed in a professional manner; at each stage students also write reflective reports that encourage the student to develop a critical and contextual framework within which to understand their practice and future career choices; students are assessed using a mixture of tutorial reviews, project work submissions and oral exams.
