This course provides an interdisciplinary and specialist approach, reflecting the dynamic and contemporary practices within creative industries. Students will develop deep specialist knowledge, both in design and research. The course provides an immersive and advanced learning experience for both advanced practitioners and recent graduates, within the broad field of visual communication. Students are encouraged to create and engage with industry, alongside taught elements. The variety of subjects covered within this degree allows students to receive guidance in forming a more specific interest for Master's level study. Whether students have a definitive subject in mind, such as the design of print within a digital environment, or a broader interest in the study of communication design, the course echoes the dynamic changes within its related industries.

Entry requirements

Applicants require an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualifications or professional experience.

Course modules

Professional oriented route modules are: analytical practice 1; dissemination (case study in specialism); contextual and creative practice; dissemination (instructional lecture in specialism); advanced practice and new knowledge; dissemination (publication and symposium in specialism).

Assessment methods

The course provides a taught and structured experience; formal content is delivered and evaluated through a range of lectures (traditional and interactive), seminars, workshops, peer review exercises, resource based learning and individual and group tutorials; students undertake case studies, presentations and reflective journals.
