Arts, Wellbeing and Mindfulness

This course explores arts and health, well-being and mindfulness, the social concept of well-being, current policy, the practices of artists and creative people, collaborative arts practices, health and concepts of the therapeutic and historical and contemporary debates in health and community settings. The course is wide-ranging in its areas of investigation, from arts and health to the expanded field of eco-philosophy, so reflects the increasing interest in well-being and mindfulness in relationship to the natural world. The course enables students to explore a range of possibilities in relationship to experience, and is open to professionals from a variety of backgrounds as well as those wishing to work towards a career in this particular sector. It is also ideal for those wishing to develop professional practice in facilitating participatory practices in the arts and related fields.

Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualifications or experience.

Course modules

Stage 1: arts, health and therapeutic (core module); 2 option modules. Stage 2: well-being and mindfulness: context and environment (core module); research and practice; 1 option module. Stage 3: final presentation/dissertation.
