The course consists of a substantial programme of study and enquiry, including an element of research at a level demanding more advanced and intensive study, as well as the application of knowledge, skills and understanding in a more sophisticated manner than a 1st degree; having successfully completed the course, students have developed a range of underpinning theoretical knowledge in risk management, as well as practical, transferable skills and competences which should enable students to operate effectively as a risk manager across all types of organisation in a global marketplace.
Bachelor's degree of a good standard; applicants with suitable work experience and/or qualifications other than those above are considered for entry; credit (exemption) are given on a case-by-case basis for individual modules on the basis of prior learning and practice based experience against a standard list of exemptions which can be provided.
Principles of risk management; risk and organisations; risk decisions; risk leadership; risk solutions; experiencing risk; research methods; dissertation.
A variety of methods are employed, designed to maximise learning and professional expertise; this includes preparation of presentations, assignments, posters, and examinations; the final stage of the MSc is based on an assignment and a dissertation and does not involve an examination.
