Risk Management

This course will give students an extensive and informed understanding of the core area of risk management. Students will be provided with practical problem solving skills as well as a deep theoretical knowledge of how the sector works, and with modern companies and institutions craving an appreciation of the relevance of risk to business objectives, students will find yourself in high demand upon graduating.

Entry requirements

Bachelor's degree of a good standard; applicants with suitable work experience and/or qualifications other than those above are considered for entry; credit (exemption) are given on a case-by-case basis for individual modules on the basis of prior learning and practice based experience against a standard list of exemptions which can be provided.

Course modules

Risk management concepts; application of risk management; risk analysis; risk response; risk leadership and culture; building a risk resilient organisation; finance and infrastructure risk; brand and people risk; theoretical aspects of contemporary risk management; exploring risk concepts and philosophies; risk research.

Assessment methods

A variety of methods are employed, designed to maximise learning and professional expertise; this includes preparation of presentations, assignments, posters, and examinations; the final stage of the MSc is based on an assignment and a dissertation and does not involve an examination.
