Accountancy and Finance (generic pathway)

The course extends understanding and critical awareness of the major finance theories which underpin a company's strategic financial decisions; it also gives students the chance to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout professional and postgraduate studies in the production of a substantial piece of research on an accounting or finance-related topic.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree in accountancy, accountancy and finance, or business related degree that contains a substantial accountancy element. TOEFL score of at least 575 or an IELTS score of at least 6.5 average or 6.0 in all bands or an alternative qualification evidencing an equivalent competence in English is required.

Course modules

Postgraduate Certificate stage: principles of modern finance (core); business management strategy; corporate governance issues in accounting and finance; investment analysis and portfolio management. Postgraduate Diploma stage: international financial reporting and financial statement analysis (core); performance measurement and evaluation; international financial strategy; audit theory and practice; operations and project management. Master's stage: financial econometrics and research skills in accounting and finance; dissertation.
