Legal Practice Course (LPC)

This is the final academic stage of qualification before becoming a solicitor; the course bridges the gap between the academic study of law and the vocational stages of training; following successful completion of the LPC students need to undertake a 2 year vocational training contract to be able to practice as a solicitor.

Students require either a Qualifying Law Degree (eg a LLB from a University in England or Wales) or a Graduate Diploma in Law/Common Professional Examination. Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) are entitled to apply for direct entry to the course. Before students can enrol on the Legal Practice course (LPC), they must enrol as a student member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and obtain a certificate of completion of the academic stage of training.
