The course is designed to provide students with a broad insight into the 3 interconnected areas of information technology, business, and project management; students develop a critical understanding of contemporary tools, techniques and models for systems development; the course provides students with the opportunity to develop practical skills, using tools and techniques from the forefront of business computing, and use these effectively to model complex organisational systems; it also seeks to promote an awareness of the moral, ethical and professional framework, within which the students operate as an information technology (IT) professionals in a business environment.

Entry requirements

Normally at least 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in appropriate discipline; applications also considered without standard entry qualifications if evidence provided of necessary knowledge and skills to complete course successfully.

Course modules

Modules include: professional skills and research methods; business systems modelling; databases for enterprise; technology entrepreneurship; IT project management; strategic it planning; business intelligence.

Assessment methods

Coursework, examinations (seen and unseen, open and closed-book), presentations, practical assignments, vivas and project work.
