Computing Telecommunications and Network Research

The School of Computing, Telecommunications and Networks (CTN) engages in applied research in a range of areas related to the capture, use, transmission and security of data and information. Research is carried out in three research groups: Enterprise Informatics, Intelligent Systems, and Networks and Forensics Security.

Entry requirements

Applicants need to complete the research degree application form and provide a statement of their initial research ideas (we advise between 1,000-2,000 words, with full referencing to relevant literature).

Course modules

All students are required to undertake an initial training programme leading to a postgraduate certificate (PG Cert) in research practice during their 1st year of study, and other appropriate training in later years.

Assessment methods

Written thesis (normally about 80,000-words). An oral examination with at least 2 specialist examiners is also required. All assessments are in English.
