Community Archaeology

This course provides the opportunity to take part in community-based projects, focussed case studies and applied research. You will consider community archaeology in a range of local and national contexts. Your studies will encourage you to engage with and study a variety of archaeology projects and organisations whilst being supported by a dedicated team of specialist tutors.

Entry requirements

Applicants will need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, normally an undergraduate Honours degree in a humanities or social sciences subject (or equivalent).

Contemporary issues in heritage; communities and archaeology; professional practice in community archaeology
research skills; dissertation.

Assessment methods

This MA is distinguished by a diversity of assessment forms that advance professional and transferable skills at a postgraduate level offering a variety of assessment that will enhance skills such as presentation, leading discussion, project design, team-working and research skills including digital literacy and communication skills, independent critical thinking and analysis and information management. As well as extended essays and portfolio presentations you will also complete a long independent dissertation project.
