Bishop Grosseteste University
Early Years with Early Years Teaching Specialism
As an Early Years Teacher you will be a specialist in early childhood development and will have Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) reflecting the specialist role that you have in working with babies and children from birth to 5 years old. You will have a passion for educating and caring for babies and children and will want to achieve the highest possible standards in your professional practice. You will lead the development of the highest quality early education and care for children aged between 0 and 5 years of age. You will also become a highly employable individual across the sector, in settings such as nurseries, schools and children's centres.
You will need: GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) in English language, mathematics and a science at the time of application; an Honours degree at a 2.2 classification or above (where the degree result is to be awarded in the year of application, we will require a predicted degree classification as part of an academic reference provided on the application).
Progression through this route will be evaluated through a variety of assessment methods which are spread out throughout the academic year. These include a peer-led seminar, a group discussion, examination, portfolio and research report. All assessments allow you to reflect on your practice and theory as you evidence your learning.
