Media Production

We have designed this part-time course specifically for working media and creative teachers in schools, colleges and higher education institutions, but it will also be of interest to any teachers who want to know more about how media - and particularly media technologies - can be used in teaching and learning. This programme of study is also ideal for any team leaders or heads of department who oversee the teaching of media and creative subjects, and for those in higher education with a primarily pedagogic approach to the creative and media field. You'll predominantly be working online to complete this course, with two residential sessions per year allowing you to meet other doctoral students in your cohort and share your ideas.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree at 2:1 or higher and at least ten years of continuous experience in an educational context, or a Master's degree and a least three years of continuous experience in an educational context. If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS 6.5 (Academic) or above.

Course modules

During your course you'll undertake two residential sessions a year, usually in May and October, which are held at our Faculty of Media & Communication on our Talbot Campus and give you the opportunity to interact with other students in your cohort and participate in workshops.

Throughout this residential programme, you'll explore methodological issues, philosophical underpinnings of research, and will have the chance to enhance your skills in areas that are not necessarily discipline specific. You'll also be able to interact with researchers from our other faculties, and listen to invited speakers from other institutions, all of which will enhance your own knowledge, skills and perspectives.
