Suitable for applicants with a degree but now considering a career in social work. This course provides a route to qualified social worker status for those who want to pursue a role within this thriving profession. As part of the course you will undertake two placements which will provide you with the opportunity to apply the theory you have learnt to practice situations. Your placements will allow you to experience a variety of different social work settings and develop a broad range of practical skills.

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally have a 2.1 degree in any subject area, or equivalent international degree level qualification. GCSE's: We require Maths and English at grades A* - C or equivalent qualifications.

Course modules

You will complete core units concerning the social and behavioural science disciplinary base which are central to understanding people and societies in context. You will then explore specific areas that deal in depth with child care and safeguarding, working with adults made vulnerable by a range of factors and mental health & substance use issues which will prepare you for contemporary social work practice. Ethics and values will be central to this preparation and a unit addressing the dilemmas and tensions of working in complex, uncertain situations will be studied.
