Cyber Security and Human Factors
On this course, you will gain an understanding of the psychology of cyber security by investigating threat, vulnerabilities and impact risk; the contagion of fear, uncertainty and doubt; managing human factors in security; trust management and information assurance. You will develop a deep and holistic awareness of cyber security and human factors. Relevant modules will explore the role of practitioners, integrating various cyber and psychological components and services into the development of complex, trustworthy socio-technical systems which will enhance new approaches to cyber security. The development of knowledge and skills in the area of human computer interaction is supplemented by options in security by design, digital forensics and incident management, which all can contribute and enhance cyber situational awareness. You will also benefit from learning topics such as soft systems methodology; cyber psychology, human factors integration; training; organisational learning; information and knowledge management through examining heterogeneous industrial case studies.
Normally a 2.2 Honours degree, or equivalent, or higher in a computer science, electronics, information technology and or relevant recent experience in the electronic or computing industry confirmed by employer references.
Modules include: Cyber security; human factors; information assurance; cyber psychology; research methods and professional issues; individual Master's project. Option units: Enterprise digital forensics; security event and incident management; security by design.
