Accounting and Finance

The programme will equip you with the knowledge and skills that are fundamental to a career in accounting and finance. Through elective choices you can specialise in key areas of interest to you, and your specialist studies culminate in the third term when you will use your business research skills as part of a consultancy project module. You will also study Leadership for Finance Professionals - an innovative and distinctive module which will prepare you for entry into a supervisory or managerial role in an organisation.

Entry requirements

A degree (lower 2nd Class or higher) in any accounting or finance-related discipline. Or be a part-qualified affiliate of: ACCA holding exam passes or exemptions from papers F1-F9; ICAEW holding exemptions or exam passes from the professional stage; CIMA holding exemptions or exam passes from the managerial stage; be a fully qualified accountant from a recognised institution, or passed finalist, to be eligible to join the programme for the final stage of the programme; IELTS at 6.5 overall with a score of no lower than a 6 in any one element.

Course modules

Modules include: Governance, risk and control; business analysis; financial management 1; corporate reporting 1; financial management 2; corporate reporting; leadership for finance professionals; portfolio management; consultancy; career skills project; leadership for finance professionals; portfolio management; business research skills and consultancy; project or academic and career skills (work experience) report. Elective modules may include: Audit and assurance; performance management; taxation.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include coursework, examinations, presentations and supervised projects.
