Comparative Commercial Law
A Law degree (minimum lower 2nd Class Honours); or a degree in law and another subject (minimum lower second class honours); or a non-law degree (minimum lower 2nd Class Honours) and a pass in the GDL or CPE; or a non-law degree (minimum lower 2nd Class Honours) and appropriate/relevant professional experience. Non-graduates with appropriate professional experience will also be considered. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent educational background.
Modules include: Comparative commercial law. Option modules include: advanced corporate law; business organisations' law; business tax law; Chinese business law; Chinese finance and investment law; Chinese public law and human rights; commercial law; corporate finance law; corporate securities law; financial regulation and compliance; fraud and financial crime; international and comparative tax law; international business law; Islamic business law; Islamic finance law; the law relating to financial transactions; transnational criminal justice law; UK and international banking law; the law of investigations.
Assessment for each module is made through a combination of: Memorandum of advice on a practical legal issue (30 per cent); written examination (70 per cent); you must also submit a dissertation of 10,000 words (maximum) on comparative commercial law.
