Clinical Dentistry (Endodontolgy)
This programme enables students to learn the latest endodontic techniques and are trained to work with a clinical microscope; there is a strong hands-on clinical element involving the supervised treatment of patients; the programme is delivered in collaboration with The City of London Dental School and is aimed at professionals who intend to expand on existing knowledge and skills; students develop an understanding of the different requirements essential to the provision of ethical, predictable and evidence-based treatment.
An Undergraduate qualification in dentistry; plus completion of at least 1 year in clinical practice; plus current General Dental Council practising certificate; overseas applicants require: undergraduate qualification in dentistry; completion of at least 1 year in clinical practice; letter of good standing or equivalent from an appropriate regulatory dental body; IELTS score of 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component); and current satisfactory immunization status, current evidence of a satisfactory Disclosure and Disbarment check and current evidence of malpractice indemnity insurance prior to commencing clinical placement.
Modules include: Biomechanics of osseointegration; aetiology and diagnosis of diseases of the pulp; management of the compromised dental pulp; endodontology retreatment and navigating the complex root canal anatomy; occlusion; advanced clinical practice; understanding research; professional project.
Assessment is by: written assignments; clinical examinations; and presentations.
