This course provides a unique opportunity to work with internationally known artists; a substantial body of work is produced through in-depth critical and creative self-development; the course supports a range of fine art practices and students have access to a wide range of facilities and learning resources including a specialist art and design library; students are normally expected to have their own studio or workspace within the Bristol region.

Entry requirements

Degree in the visual arts or individuals from a range of art, media and design backgrounds with other academic qualifications or professional experience. Interview where students are expected to show examples of recent or current practices as well as examples of written work, plus a good level knowledge of contemporary fine art practice.

Course modules

Core modules: fine art critical review; fine art practice A, B or C; practice and evaluation document. Plus optional modules from: research methodologies; enterprise in the creative industries; research methods.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes: coursework that may take the form of essays, displays of completed artwork, notebooks, sketchbooks and journals. Pieces may be assessed in situ or through appropriate documentation.
