The course gives students the skills and insight needed for a successful career, as well as the qualifications and confidence needed to lift above other candidates in the job market; the flexible course will help students improve performance in their current role and enhance their future prospects; the course helps students link theory and practice relevant to today's organisations, giving personal tools to create, implement and progress the most effective management policies.

Entry requirements

Applicants need a good Honours degree (normally minimum 2.2) or equivalent business professional qualification, a HND in business studies or equivalent business professional award at NVQ 4, plus 2 years' relevant work experience, or at least 2 years in a management role with in-house management education/development (part-time route only). Applicants may be interviewed prior to acceptance. Applicants whose 1st language is not English are required to meet the UK Border Agency and Universities minimum English language requirements, such as the International English Language Test (IELTS) 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in all components.

Course modules

Postgraduate Certificate core modules: managing finance; meeting customer needs; people and organisations; strategic analysis. Postgraduate Diploma core modules: managing finance; meeting customer needs; people and organisations; strategic analysis. Plus 4 of the electives from a selection which typically include: managing change; leadership; project management; business ethics and critical management; innovation, creativity and enterprise. Master's: dissertation.

Assessment methods

The course primarily uses continuous assessment, chiefly through marked assignments which are usually either organisation or role focused.
