Leadership and Management

As business environments become increasingly complex, strong leadership is ever more vital. Business leaders need to be equipped with a multi-faceted array of skills to be able to respond effectively to the challenges and opportunities presented by today's uncertain business world. This course is designed to enhance and develop students' knowledge and skills in this area, by giving students a critical understanding of some of the contemporary theory, practice and research in this field and then challenging them to demonstrate originality in the way they lead and manage their teams and organisations. It will be of significant value, whether already working in a leadership or management position, or seeking to take their career along that path.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree (a lower 2nd or above) from a recognised UK Higher Education institution or equivalent from a recognised overseas institution; or a HND or equivalent professional award (for example, at NVQ 4), plus 2 years of relevant work experience; or at least 2 years in a role with leadership or management responsibility. Applicants without an Honours degree or equivalent formal academic qualification would require the full support of their organisation and are likely to be working as middle managers in a suitable professional area. Applicants may be interviewed prior to acceptance. Applicants whose 1st language is not English are required to meet the English language requirements by obtaining a minimum grade of 6.5 overall on the British Council International English Language Test (IELTS) or a balanced TOEFL score of at least 600 (written scale) or 250 (computer scale) or 100 (internet based test).
