Real Estate Finance and Investment (distance learning)
This course is designed to provide graduates of a non-associated degree with core technical knowledge and skills leading to Chartered membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). A particular emphasis is placed on issues relating to the financing and investment of property and whilst not a requirement there is an expectation that the dissertation will look into these subjects. This degree aims to impart practical and theoretical understanding of real estate finance and investment, valuation, appraisal, development and management which will allow you to examine critically current practice and apply, at an advanced level, contemporary theory and techniques to issues that face property professionals.
This course is suitable for students with a Bachelor's degree in any subject with the British Honours equivalent degree grade of 2.2 or above. The university also welcomes applicants from students without the conventional entrance requirements but who have substantial relevant work or other experience and whose motivation and skills would enable them to succeed on the course.
The programme comprises 180 credits, 120 of which are taught along with a further 60 credits for the dissertation. The taught modules cover the following key subject areas: Real Estate Economics and Valuation; Real Estate Investment and Development; Real Estate Law; Strategic Estate Management; Real Estate Finance and Investment; Dissertation.
Assessment is achieved through a variety of course work assignments - essays, reports, surveys and presentations.
